Celebrity picks: Glennon Doyle's favorite recent reads

GlennonDoyle250.jpgIt is difficult to believe that Love Warrior, Glennon Doyle's Oprah-endorsed sensation, was published all the way back in 2016—but it has been that long. Love Warrior topped best seller lists and sent Doyle into the pantheon that includes writers like Brené Brown and Rachel Hollis. The book was an account of how we are all born to be warriors: strong, powerful, and brave; able to confront the pain and claim the love that exists for us all. It was written for anyone who yearns to establish deeper, truer relationships and a more abundant, authentic life.

Glennon Doyle will continue this journey when her next book publishes in March 2020. It is entitled Untamed, and it explores the joy and peace that people can discover when they stop striving to meet the expectations of the world, and start trusting the voice deep within. Elizabeth Gilbert has already read it, stating, "Untamed will liberate women - emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I believe Glennon was born to write this book, just this way, at just this moment in history. It is phenomenal."

Where does Glennon Doyle find inspiration? Read on to find out.

My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem

My Life On The Road is my favorite of Gloria Steinem’s brilliant offerings. In a world of social media activism, it is fascinating and refreshing to learn about the decades of face-to-face organizing Ms. Steinem did alongside her justice-seeking sisters. Much of what I know about listening, collaborating, and serving I learned from Ms. Steinem. Every time I read her, I feel awed and grateful.

Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson

Just Mercy affected me more deeply than anything I’ve read in the past decade. It broke my heart, widened my perspective, and deepened my conviction. Bryan Stevenson and his colleagues at the Equal Justice Initiative are American heroes.

Naked by David Sedaris

I can’t get enough of David Sedaris. Beyond hilarious. So weird. Always brilliant.

We Are the Luckiest by Laura McKowen

This is it. This is the book for people getting sober. This is the one. McKowen’s forthcoming We Are the Luckiest is the truest, most generous, honest, and helpful sobriety memoir I’ve read. It’s going to save lives
